If they're not careful, this is the kind of thing that could give the CIA a bad name...
What's a few tons of heroin among friends tho', right?
As an anecdote, a DEA officer I'm acquainted with told me personally he had the same CIA threat here in California, he swears. The phone would ring late at night, or he would get a message from a brother officer, "leave so-and-so alone, he's one of ours". He feared simple execution via "accident" if he didn't comply. Even tho' the so-and-so was a major cocaine dealer.
He was pissed, but had a career and, he felt, his life, to consider. That was when I started becoming acquainted with other writings on the subject.
It is hard to dismiss these stories. These are some of the investigations that need to be done, when they potentially threaten Americans, and certainly Americans would not approve of breaking drug laws to raise money, a la Oliver North's shenanigans with drugs and guns.
Unless these can be investigated and explained, credibility is evaporating. |
