I don't believe the dynamics of a takeover of Qwest have changed at all, even if ownership for accounting purposes is below 50%, control is maintained. Without his concurrence, a hostile takeover would be impossible. With his agreement, the takeover would not be hostile.

Personally I believe they want to remain independent and grow through expansion of what they have and aquisitions, but if the price is right a buyout is always possible. My guess would be double to triple current prices, what do others think.
