I believe that would be their strategy. They would be able to increase everyone's taxes as they want to, without taking as much heat for it. If McCain is elected, he will face a Congress controlled by Democrats who will not have to raise taxes - just let the Bush tax cuts expire in 2010 and McCain will be powerless to stop it.
