This Irving, Texas, jewelry retailer recently completed a recapitalization that included a much-needed $150 million loan from Golden Gate Capital. The company isfending off a half-dozen shareholder lawsuits alleging that it misled investors about its financial health between 2006 and 2009. Zale (ZLC, news, msgs) says the lawsuits are without merit.

The retailer's sales have declined 13% over the past 12 months, and it posted a net loss of $155 million for the period. Zale has racked up nearly $100 million in unusual expenses in the past four fiscal quarters.
