On this lazy Sunday afternoon, while my husband watches Fox football (a Madden fan), I am drifting among my wine bookmarks and I am offering this amusing article by Janic Robinson(assume you all know who she is: she of the "wet sneaker" nose)
nationalpost.com

We seem to have very few tasting notes on wines here, even though the thread subject would indicate this. I'll go out on a limb and post one many might not have an interest in unless they have lost a lot of money and need a cheap sparkling wine (never call any sparkler Champagne except those from the champagne district of France: major faux pas) for Valentines Day. (Investing tip: don't throw good money after bad)

Tasting Note:
Paul Cheneau, Spanish sparkling wine, NV: pale and clear, lots of lovely tiny bubbles that last much longer than they should for such a cheapo, nose of burnt sugar and toast, very crisp and fresh, with appley flavors and a touch of citrus. It is just the ticket for my afternoon apertif and at $5.99 at the B-21 Liquor store in Tarpon Springs, FL, a major bargain and the match of many at 3 times the price. Even cheaper sparklers are given a better chance with the right glass. I have not bought totally into the Reidel/Spectator marketing scheme, but a nice flute that turns in at the lip is the right shape for this type of wine.
