A quick fix for the UN would be to do away with the security council or at the very least its veto's. In addition do away with the 1 county 1 vote system in the General Assembly. Perhaps institute a system like the electoral college where a country is granted a number of votes (this time based some formula of economic and military power).

Any system where Gabon carries the same weight as the US, is bound to cater to the interests of lesser nations.
