Starting at the end - a fit of panic

>>The crisis. When I read about it the first time, it was still far away. Then I heard about it through the grapevine. Then it got friends of friends, then my friends themselves, and then the hits started to get closer and closer. First it hit Christian, who is a newspaper man like me. Then Katrin, the designer. Petra, lector. Since October Stefan, our neighbor from the fourth floor, is also no longer going off to work in the morning. He is the man, who invented the slogan "It's not a trick, it's a Sony". His job, his company car, his victorious smile, they are all gone. In less than a year my address book turned into a cemetery of phone numbers, disconnected numbers all over the alphabet, crossed out E-Mail addresses. Where @faz, @siemens, @pixelpark used to reign, you see @home now. I check from A to Z, add it all up and come to the conclusion: very few of my friends still have a job. <<
