I don't think the impression is based on the reality of US actions.
Certainly - so far. Afghanistan was justified, and I completely approved and approve, although it still seems very shortsighted, not to mention unpleasant, to try and leave straight away after destroying the place.
But the impression IS based on the rhetoric issuing from Wolfowitz, from Rumsfeld, from Cheney - and from Bush.
And, condemned by association, from Ariel Sharon.

ABM is purely defensive. Its really of no concern to the rest of the world
If a nation has the ability to act without any fear of retaliation, that's of concern.

Tactical Nuclear weapons use
Maybe you missed the rather careful leak of plans for tac use?

The increased military spend is reported here more as to do with more and more advanced weaponry - souped-up bombs, more smart weaponry, more stealth, more unmanned stuff... not 'pay and rations' increase. I apologise if I'm wrong and it's all going on pay... is that the case?

BTW, why was there no action taken over Iraq using poison gas on its own people, or on Iran? Wasn't that just as evil?
[I know the reason. Can you see why this looks like Western hypocrisy to the ME?]
