Ken, I was at Bidwell before I become a lot more active in the market and they let me get away with a lot of things.. and when I say get away I mean they warned me about a possible violation (such as free ride or over margin limit) by phone and in writing; and it was personalized and friendly. But that is the price we way for cheaper commisions. Today I got a curt computerized email saying "PAY OR DIE".

In the future, the competition is getting so cutthroat that brokerages will actually be doing free trades to get your business. Ive read 2 articles over this subject. Actually I think one smaller one already does fee free trading. But they get you at the margin rates which are much higher than comparable deep discount brokers. But according to the article, this should disappear in the future and in fact they predict it may even get to the point where the brokerages PAY YOU to do business with them. Imagine that.

All I know is customer service is out the door with many of these deep discounters. I dont ask for much =)
