Matritech has the patent protection on any cancer detection based on nuclear matrix proteins. As such they have that particular niche to themselves. Any other company could develop cancer detection systems based on anything else, which could compete with Matritech. That is the nature of capitalism. Now, or at least after all the regulatory procedures are out of the way, Matritech's product(s) will have to stand on its own merits and the effectiveness of its marketing. The marketplace will decide.
