Sunday mag section..the making of a democrat in 2004. one part I wanted to note since we publish several references to Kerry not being Irish and his saying he never claim to be and corrected folks many times.. "Kerry has also stumbled. Confronted with press reports earlier this year that he had often allowed Bay State voters to believe he was Irish, he told the Boston Globe he has always been "clear as a bell" in denying the ancestry--whereupon this Kerry remark, from the Congressional Record on March 18, 1986, quickly resurfaced: "For those of us who are fortunate to share an Irish ancestry, we take special pride in the contribution (of) Irish-Americans..."
