Voodoo2 Prelaunch Rolls On
February 14, 1998
While Electronic Boutique already offers pre-orders for the Monster 3D II, the company has finally been officially added to Diamond Multimedia's VooDoo2 prelaunch sales program.

Diamond Multimedia's latest pre-order announcement is adding even more fuel to the Voodoo2 fire. The company's clever prelaunch campaign enables customers to secure the Monster 3D II card well before its launch.

For a ten dollar deposit at Electronic Boutique, the company will hold a unit when it ships later this spring. Diamond is offering similar pre-order deals at retailers such as CompUSA, Future Shop, Software Ect. and Babbages.

"3Dfx's Voodoo 2 technology is in high demand and Diamond has the reputation for delivering top-performing game accelerators, evident in the success of the Monster 3D which has been the number one selling 3D accelerator in retail for at least six months," said Jerry Madaio, buyer at Electronics Boutique. "Our Monster 3D II pre-order program announcement has already spurred a high volume of orders, and the Monster 3D II is fast becoming one of our best selling products."

The pre-order deal is a wise marketing plan on several levels. First of all, it builds anticipation for the product, and secondly it locks-in users to the Monster 3D II before the competition is able to advertise their own Voodoo2 cards.
