Likasi trenching results Trillion Resources Ltd TLQ Shares issued 22,364,500 Mar 27 close $1.70 Mon 30 Mar 98 News Release See Melkior Resources Inc (MKR) News Release Mr David Chaplin reports Melkior and Trillion have received positive results from trenching activity on their mineral exploration program on the Likasi property in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The partners are working with Gecamines, the state mining company, under a joint venture agreement that was ratified by the government in June 1997. The agreement gives the partnership the right to explore for new mineral deposits over the 2807 sq km Likasi property in the centre of the prolific Katanga copper belt. Melkior-Trillion is the operator of the exploration program. Depending on the particulars of any specific deposit selected for development, the partnership will retain at least a 51% interest in production activities. A recap of work completed on the project to-date along with trenching results follows: An airborne magnetic and radiometric survey was completed over the entire property in the summer of 1997. A total of 3,715 metres of trenching has been completed with approximately 6000 soil samples taken for assaying in Gecamines laboratories in Likasi. Duplicate check samples have been sent to Zimbabwe. A grid measuring 40 metres by 50 metres has been established on a previously known, but unexplored, gold/palladium anomaly at a location known as KIPESE. In February 1998, new samples were taken by Melkior personnel at 2m intervals from portions of trenches 6 and 10 on the KIPESE anomaly and hand carried to Canada for independent analysis at the Bourlamaque Assay Laboratories in Val d'Or, Quebec. Melkior/Trillion attributes the few abnormally high gold values to the presence of coarse gold. The KIPESE anomaly is on a 170 kilometre long, east-west shear zone where a gold, cobalt, palladium and uranium association has been observed at various locations from previous work. Investigating the lateral extent and depth of this mineralization as well as testing additional anomalies identified from the airborne survey will be the focus of an exploration program that will begin in late May when the rainy season ends. Gecamines has invited the partnership to evaluate one of the known deposits on the Likasi property. An exploitation agreement for the deposit that is finally selected is under negotiation. The partnership has been operating in Congo for more than one year and this time has received the support of Gecamines as well as government officials involved in the mineral sector. Working conditions are improving as substantial improvements in organization and infrastructure have been made. The Katanga copper belt is easily accessible by paved road from Harare, Zimbabwe where Trillion has its African headquarters and operates two gold mines.
