One more discordant note we can add about the technology blinders and ideological myopia shared by many at the Mises Institute is the baffling omission at the end of the article where the author dismisses the ability of government to lead in the area of technological development. While it has proven to be a double-edged sword, it was government initiative in the 1940s that created the atomic bomb as well as the peaceful nuclear power industry. Today, 20% of America's electrical energy needs are served by nuclear power. The author seems willfully blind about this major industry.

Additionally, without the intervention of government National Labs, this sort of solar development would be retarded by decades:
