IS AT&T GETTING SOMETHING RIGHT? Alsop's Fables DIGITAL WATCH, The Trends and Products that Drive the Tech Industry, March 17, 1997 FORTUNE. "I am fascinated with a new product just announced by AT&T. The company has developed it in great secrecy under the code name "Project Angel". To be accurate, AT&T is calling Angel a technology rather than a product, which allows the company to avoid giving the thing a name, a price, and a release date. Angel is a radio technology intended to let AT&T provide local telephone service and high-speed Internet access without having to run a wire to anybody's house. I suspect that Angel will have unintended effects, and may even be the catalyst for the next leap forward toward the information highway."
