Drat, I forgot to crank it back up while the side was off to locate the noise source. But I did take the side off the tower, omigod, and make a dust-tsunami with a can of compressed air. We have a wood stove and it's particulate city in this house.

And it's much quieter in there now. Not as silent as I'd like, but it doesn't seem to be toiling as hard.

And I keep clicking on History to see what happens and it hasn't frozen! So far.
