I do agree strongly with one of your statements: "What Trump's relationship with God is belongs to the two of them."
I believe one's religion, or lack thereof should be a private affair. What you believe in, or whom you believe in or worship should be a very private matter. My experience with many so called "Christians" is that they want to bring religion into the public area, where it has no place.
In the case of Donald Trump, a public figure, and therefore fair game, especially when he brings his "religion" into the public arena, has more than demonstrated that his "religion" is suspect. This is a man married three times, with an illegitimate daughter, who had an affair with wife 2 while still married to wife 1. When he disparages women, brags about groping them because he is a celebrity, disparages Mexicans and Muslims, makes fun of the handicapped, tries to incite his fans to violence, and lies repeatedly, he is open to question. From what I know of the Christian Jesus, I think he would have thoroughly disapproved of Donald Trump.
And, I think it takes a tremendous leap in imagination to believe that President Trump, with his history and by his current actions, tries to appeal to Christians for any reason other than votes. |
