I have a question about BREW. What, if any, additional cost to Qualcomm is there for BREW?
It seems that that this will provide to Q an ongoing revenue stream from the sale of a phone (chip, royalty), that up until now was a one-time event for Q until the phone was replaced (ie, Q receives no income from the minutes used by the phone). There was one financial model about a week ago (from the guy in Portland?) that included BREW revenue during the life of a phone almost equal to that of the chip sale. I was hoping that would generate a little more discussion, because this seems to be a very big, very profitable source of revenue that I don't really see any large additional costs to Q to generate past the already sunk R & D costs. The system is already designed, building it into the chip is a minimal cost cost after design stage, and Q does not manage or run the applications.
