I became eligible for AARP membership this year (I'm toward the end of the Boomer generation), I refuse to join. I think they've done a terrible disservice by concentrating on getting as much as possible for their group without ever taking into effect the long run consequences of shifting so many resources to the elderly. The cost is that those resources could have been used somewhere else in the economy far more efficiently. This would have given a higher standard of living for everyone, not some narrow age grouping. We've become a country full of people who ask "What can my country do for me?"
