Suppliers have the next 90 days to show Wal-Mart they can become "tag-ready" in time. Anyway, that's my understanding.

The key phrase in the SATO PR was, "SATO's EPC Class 1-compliant RFID printing solution is now running in the Wal-Mart RFID testing and development lab located in Bentonville, Arkansas."

Let's hope SAMSys emerges a winner in Wal-Mart's compliancy scramble. This could make or break SAMSys.

For the record, IndustryWeek named the following turn-key solution Technology of the year:

"The solution, RFID in a Box, is a bundled package of RFID technology from Alien Technology Corp. and supply-chain-execution applications and professional services from Atlanta-based Manhattan Associates. Other partners in the project include Zebra Technologies, which provides the RFID-enabled printers, and Printronix Inc., which provides an optional RFID Smart Label printing solution." more here...
