The news from Japan is actually that in the 2nd week of October the Pc sales declined 6.2% in volume and 6.4% in value from the previous week. The 58% comparison was to last October 97 which we recall was one of the lowest points in the Japanese economy just prior to a drop in the Nikkei dropping from 18,000 to 15,000. I doubt that this is anything to cheer about unless you just look at the headlines.
