With the misery that human kind is capable of and has wrought upon the earth and itself, i struggle to reconcile your statement with a God I need to admire.

You must have skipped over the old testament - he was a pretty scary dude back in the day.

Human kind is also quite often capable of incredible acts of kindness and self sacrifice.
