If you drive down a logging road OFF the highway about 300 yards, you'll see clearcut devastation

The timber industry is in the business of leasing public lands and growing trees they intend to cut, I'm not sure your point when they harvest trees grown specifically for lumber.

That's why they call them "tree farms".
