This is completely irrelevant to your usage of Hebrew words as icons or holy symbols. You attempt to make it appear that I oppose the Hebrew language. Far from it, friend. I studied most of the Old and New Ts. using the Hebrew and Greek roots for better technical understanding of the passages. I have worn out Hebrew an Greek lexicons over the years. In the end, I have always found that true spiritual understanding comes only from the Holy Spirit via a hungry and humble heart. This wisdom is often contained in the writings of some past Saint who has written down what the Holy Spirit has shown him.( The desert Fathers of Egypt are a good examples of this principle) The Holy Spirit does use gifted language translators to edify the Church in every linguistic community. But this is not, as you know, the point of our disagreement and discussion. It's your inappropriate usage of certain Hebrew words as icons or idolatrous symbols that started this conversation. Incidentally, you are not along. There are several others on this thread who insist on respecting Jews more highly than other nationalities and ethnic groups. I guess your just one those.
Paul withdrew himself to study in humility for some 12 to 14 years before he went out to preach the Gospel. He was careful to consult with the older Christian before becoming a teacher. You, like many others on this thread, first become teachers and then try to learn the spiritual food of the holy Body of Christ--the Christian Church. There is much wisdom in the two thousand years of Christianity. We have a rich Orthodox, Catholic, Lutheran, Anglican, Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, etc. Christian cultural heritage. I would strongly suggest that you isolate yourself with the holy writings of the thousands of holy saints that have left us this rich heritage. Together with the Holy Word of God, they are the foundation of our Christian Church and culture. |
