Hi RtS,
hope you are doing well..

The last few days for my Japan stocks have been wonderful..

NJR (6911.J) new 52 week high at 810 Yen today (still cheap)
Asahi Kasei (3407.J) breakout to 478 Yen
Shimadzu (7701.J) inching up a tad to 335 Yen..

and the one in Japan I didn't buy yet (Shibaura Mechatroncis) 6590.J is up 50% from 300Yen when I looked at it to 450 Yen... Interestingly photonics related stocks are not advancing. Looked at many of them in Japan: Santec, Moritex, Hitachi Cable, Hammamatsu Photonics, etc.. Maybe a chance to buy cheap

Whereas my US semi related holdings are stalling..

the best seems to be CTS (Automotive Semis, comm chips) around $16
CLTK flat around $10
TXCC flat around $3 (down 10%)
TGAL flat around $1.10 (down 10% too)

One exception: SRAM.OB (Simtek) - $0.40. They have a co-development agreement with Amkor for a die-shrink of their proprietary nvRAM process. When this is done both firms should benefit. Amkor is in the process for getting a fully integrated fab (say contract fab model !) and SRAM.OB gets foundry capacity (maybe again a 1:1 agreement as in the old days of Cyrix - which did similar deals with IBM, STM). Simtek stayed almost profitable in the days of desert (2001). Company is debtfree and even acquired SiGe process technology in their QDOT acquisition. Markets: nvRAM, ASIC, some FPGA and in the future: maybe comm equipment (from QDOTs SiGe). I know it's OTC/BB and therefore risky but worth a look...
