Merrill Lynch Analyst Blodget Asked to Keep Quiet, Cnet Reports
By Edvard Pettersson

New York, June 6 (Bloomberg) -- Merrill Lynch & Co. analyst Henry Blodget has been asked by the investment bank not to comment on companies beyond what's in his research reports, Cnet reported, citing an unidentified Merrill Lynch spokeswoman.

Blodget, a noted Internet-industry analyst, has been asked to refrain from in-depth interviews and broader profiles because of an investors allegations that Blodget had a conflict of interest in maintaining a ``buy'' rating on a stock.

In March, Debasis Kanjilal filed an arbitration case with the New York Stock Exchange alleging Blodget maintained a ``buy'' recommendation on InfoSpace Inc. because he knew that if the shares fell, it may have jeopardized a planned acquisition Merrill Lynch was handling. Merrill Lynch said that the accusations were baseless.
