I agree. I would be perfectly satisfied with a 1Xrt phone with a suitable data cable to conect to a Palm. This worked very well (IS-95A of course) with my QCP-860 with the data cable & organizer supplied by Qualcomm/Kyocera.

CDPD Yuk! Have you checked out the Palm VII thread here on SI.

Problem with this is you need 2 subscriptions (I think). One for voice & one for PDA.

I'd take the pdQ form factor but of course that device was limited to 2MB memory (v. 8MB for Vx & IIIc).

Once Verizon rolls out 1Xrt service, great, as long as you can combine MOU on a single invoice, even if 2 subscriptions.

Carriers have to make data pay, so it will be interesting to see how they deal with this.
