George,
I agree, the guy is so much like Teflon, that its downright scary. His advisors must sometimes sit back and laugh at the way they are able to manipulate the media and the public. They really must feel as though they are invincible--whatever mistakes they make get overlooked or are craftily spun into "being someone else's fault." Had Nixon had this same ability, no one would've ever heard of Watergate and he would've been regarded as one of the finest presidents ever.
However, when the election farce is over, their will be a lot of journalists who will put aside their liberal biases in search of a Pulitzer Prize and expose this administration for all its worth. Unfortunately, had the expose been done pre-election, everything would've worked out OK because the remedy to the problem would be a new president. Instead, you can bet the next four years will involve Whitewater, Filegate, Vince Foster-gate, etc., pardons for Susan McDougal, John Huang, etc., followed by a Congressional impeachment hearing, all of which will shake up public confidence, and then who will suffer--the financial markets. |
