Harold,

the only way to set up a portfolio in GET is by selecting each symbol from the master list, putting it into the new portfolio. GET can not import a file (ascii or other) to make the portfolio since the portfolio also contains a lot of information about the data format, the actual location of the file on the hard drive, the DOP and DAT number association (if using Computract/Metastock) etc.

You "could" transfer the portfolio to some one else who has GET by sending them the GET.PFL file, but there is one big problem. If the guy on the other end doesn't have the EXACT same files, in the EXACT same format, in the EXACT same physical location on his machine (including drive and directory) the portfolio will be totally useless when he gets it.

GET was designed with simplicity in mind, therefore it was never optimized for the exchange of information between 2 GET users.
