FlashPoint, Motorola team in digital imaging applications

SAN JOSE--FlashPoint Technology Inc. here today announced a
technology alliance with Motorola Inc.'s Semiconductor Products Sector to
create products for the digital imaging market place.

The agreement aims to combine Motorola's semiconductor technology with
FlashPoint's expertise in digital imaging software solutions for a new
generation of intelligent digital imaging devices, according to the two
companies.

Initially concentrating on the PowerPC processor series, FlashPoint will
incorporate Motorola's RISC MPU as the basis for its hardware and
software reference design kits. FlashPoint said its design strategy is to
develop a digital imaging software platform that provides a quick time to
market for digital imaging device manufacturers and ensures interoperability
between all digital imaging devices using the company's software.

In addition, FlashPoint said it will encourage developers to extend the
capabilities of the software through add-on applications and software-based
features.

FlashPoint intends to unveil its new design and demonstrate it at the
International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Jan. 8-11, 1998.
First products are expected to be available in early 1998.
