Oh, okay, Janice, now I understand!!! I think there is definitely a place in many lives for these comfortable amorous friendships, particularly when both of the parties involved have the same understanding and agreement about what the relationship fulfills.

They become more difficult when one of the lovers is more involved emotionally than the other, obviously. But for many, they can be like a comfortable old pair of slippers or something, always there for comfort when comfort is what you need. Friendly, reliable, lots of trust and security. Particularly nice for people who have busy careers or are in stages of their lives where the commitments of a marriage might not work very well.

I somehow got the idea that Skipper was really looking for something more intensely romantic. Being a great romantic myself, I am never really satisfied with less than the "our glances locked across the crowded room . . " sort of love in my life.
