Ted what I meant was that AOL is slow. I was on it as a newbie. I assume they will make it available via AOL somehow. So somehow ICQ's servers will be linked through AOL's servers just like the rest of AOL's content. Whenever you are going through AOL's servers you have to compete with all those other 11 million users for server capacity.

The opening I mentioned is for the IRC type software. Sorry. Wrong reference to 11th Hour. It is Catalyst. The ticked users including myself could look for a new service and viola there's Catalyst IRC .

Right now I can send 250mb files (that's the largest for me yet) or more through ICQ. I can not see AOL allowing that. Also, AOL has to figure out a way of making ICQ work with AOL. One of my relatives has AOL and has tried to use it and can not. I hope Catalyst allows any size file transfer.

Yes ICQ has a large following. Can't remember the number given in the article. And yes Microsoft and Yahoo are also mentioned in the article as trying to compete with it. I am not hyping Catalyst. They will have heavy competition. They will have to have something good and market it well to get a slice of that pie before Gates eats it.
