Nothing like a day late and a dollar short but I initiated a contest a week ago and I like to finish what I start, even if there were circumstances which prevented me from doing this in a timely manner.
In this conest we were looking for a rally out of the FOMC meeting which didn't really happen, although things have been moving upward.
Anyway the rules of the contest were to pick a stock with the biggest gain from opening price Mon 8/21 to the closing bell on Wed 8/23.
And BRCM was the winning stock picked by PAL (up 10.843)
followed by SNDK picked by Kracko (up 10.813)
A ten point run in 3 days in a mediocre market is nothing to sneeze at.
However, my intentions for the contest was to find stocks that were going to explode. So I also computed from Mondays opening price to the high of the 3 day contest.
With this computation, Dr. Bob with his pick of SDLI is the winner. SDLI gained a whopping 22.750 from the opening price on Monday to the high of the three day contest.
100 shares would have netted you $2,275.00 in just 3 days.
It certainly would have paid to follow Dr. Bob's lead, as well Pal and Krackow who would have $1,000 plus on just a hundred shares in 3 days.
