That's a very good question!
See Brett's answer. I'm not sure that you can do this
with any program. I know what you are trying to do and I do the same thing with my data. Here's what I do: In whatever data downloader
TC2000, QuotesPlus ect... they usually have a option to build a portfolio or run a scan. It is here that I set my requirements for
the stocks i.e. EPS, RS, Volume, Price > 12, close > Mov(C,40,ema)
ect... I then run the search in QuotesPlus (at home) and normally it cuts 10,000 issues down to 1000 or 1500. At this point you can save the list as a data file and convert it to MetaStock format (my first chice because just about any software will read MS format) or convert
into ASCII. Once you have the file you can go into the dataline in GET
and read just those symbols or stocks.
