Off Topic - I have had similar problems. I am currently using @HOME cable modem service, which blows away anything I could get from a phone line, and that uses something like 10MB of memory. Go check how much memory you are using when you have problems compared with the RAM you have on your system (and compare it with how much memory you are using when you do not have problems).
