Duncan: When HP, Dell, Micron, etc. offer a $99. CD-R as an option, THEN is the time to worry. I don't suppose you'd like to give us a guess as to when we can expect that?

Come on. Be serious now. Give me your best guess as to when we can expect to see a $99 CD-R option in any of the top 10 computer manufacturers lines. Then we can compare that to the date Micron offered the Zip drive, and determine just how far ahead Iomega is.

You don't want to duck this question, Duncan. It goes to the heart of your entire argument.

Technology is no good if it is not afordable AND available. For example: I could tell you that I have seen a re-writeable DVD drive in the lab. GREAT technology. Sell Iomega! Sell Seagate! The sky is falling! Duh... wait a minute. When will it be available? At what price? Will it be adopted as a standard? Will it be marketed well? Maybe these questions aren't as sexy as new technology, but they are more to the point.

I LOVE new technology. I buy it all the time. But Investing is economics. Investing in hi-tech compnaies mixes the two, but does not eliminate the economics.
