You would not be responsible if you were on your assigned post, following procedures designed to keep people from stealing cars. If you were asleep, you would be responsible and would probably get fired but not go to jail. The perp goes to jail and gets the blame for his actions. Your analogy falls apart at this point. All defensive measures against 9/11 attacks were in place and functioning, albeit imperfectly. Now get out and help instead of sniping at Bush all the time. OK, I will try again. The Bush administration is responsible for the defense of the US. Part of that responsibility involves analyzing the consequences of their actions or lack of actions. If I am a security guard in a car lot and someone breaks into a car while I am asleep. Are you saying I share no blame for the incident?
