Dear Kenneth and Moenmac: I cant show you a reference, but I can tell you many people retire prior to age 65 and find getting insurance is a major hassle. In my case, and many that I know of, my wife (much younger than I) continues to work for the sole reason of providing group insurance to us. Luckily, I will reach 65 before she reaches an age that she wants to retire at, but I know others with meaningless partime jobs again solely for insurance purposes. Its a real hassle, but even excluding that, I believe that my proposal would BE GOOD for Medicare not a negative for reasons I stated originally. Yet, govt doesnt do this SENSIBLE option. I am not asking for a handout, merely an opportunity to get into a huge pool. JDN
