I have a new PC with Windows XP Home Edition as the op system. DELL, 1.8G P4, 256MB RAM.

Of course the kids wanted to play some of their CD ROM games on it, dating from 1999 or so (written for Windows 95/98). I let them do it and the games worked, but three times I have gotten a screen of death type of message and the computer has shut down. I thought XP wasn't supposed to do that? The games were Jump Start 4th Grade and Need for Speed (a car racing CD ROM program from Electronic Arts).
