NOVELL SHOWCASES DIRECTORY-ENABLED NETWORK AT
N+I 99 EXHIBITION

SINGAPORE -- April 8, 1999 -- Powerful directory-enabled network and
Internet solutions are available here and now, and can be seen live at the
Novell, Inc. pavilion at the Networld + Interop 99 exhibition from 7-9 April
1999 at the Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
"Many software vendors have just realised the power of directory-enabled
software, but Novell has been delivering directory-enabled solutions to its
customers for the past six years," said Mr Sam Ghebranious, Novell's
Managing Director for Asean. "Visitors will be able to take Novell's
Management Reality Tour to see how our NDS-enabled solutions will solve
their problems and impact their companies' businesses." The Novell
Management Reality Tour will showcase live applications in three areas:
Directory-Based Desktop Management Solution: Desktop maintenance is
the greatest expense in almost every network. With the first version of
Z.E.N.works, many customers eagerly took advantage of the opportunity to
leverage NDS infrastructure in reducing those desktop maintenance costs.
Now, many customers are in the midst of preparing their networks for the
Year 2000; and Z.E.N.works 1.1 offers much needed assistance in
efficiently assessing and repairing Year 2000-related desktop problems. This
bundle of Novell solution gives companies the opportunity to continue
managing network growth without disruption into the next century. Novell
will show how a directory-enabled desktop management solution can help
slash the total cost of ownership (TCO) of a network through automated
functions such as : -Software Distribution & Repair -Remote Trouble
Shooting -Integrated Year 2000 Compliance Checking -Desktop
Configuration -Hardware Inventory Directory-Enabled Internet Security
Solution: Many companies have ambitious plans to extend their businesses to
the Internet and World Wide Web to gain a competitive advantage.
However, IT professionals in these companies have found two obstacles:
Security and Performance on the Internet. Novell's BorderManager
Enterprise Edition 3 delivers all of the security and none of the wait. A high-
performance Internet security management suite, BorderManager Enterprise
Edition 3 includes integrated firewall, virtual private networking,
authentication and caching services for networks based on Novell Directory
Services (NDS), the world's most widely used directory. Novell will show
network administrators first hand how they can effectively: -Protect
corporate networks -Accelerate Internet access performance -Decrease
Internet traffic -Allocate bandwidth sharing at Router and Switch

levels -Manage user access to the Internet -Connect remote offices together
over the Internet -Enhanced Security via biometrics devices
Directory-Enabled Management of a heterogeneous network: Managing a
heterogeneous network is no easy task. By extending the Novell Directory
Services to more hardware platforms, Novell makes networks more
manageable and accessible. NDS eases network access by allowing users to
log into NetWarer, NT and Solaris SPARC servers and other supported
platforms with the same password and user name. In addition, it maximises
IT efficiency by enabling network administrators to manage users, groups
and access to multiple network applications from any location and across
multiple platforms. At the N+I event, Novell will show how NDS for
Windows NT, NDS for Solaris, Cisco and Lucent can enable network
administrators to manage multiple operating systems and routers via NDS.
Here and Now "The beauty of Novell Directory Services (NDS) is that it is
available here and now," said Mr Ghebranious. "Existing NetWare users can
protect their investments with our latest NetWare 5, while new users don't
have to wait to take advantage of directory services." "With NDS, network
administrators can not only enjoy the benefits of directory services to
manage their networks more effectively, they can also manage
heterogeneous networks with NDS," he added. About Novell Novell, Inc.
