Blaine , The idea to go was kind of spur of the moment . I'm reading a great book about the evolution of the hi-tech industry in the Valley called "Accidental Empires " How the boys of Silicon Valley make their millions, battle foriegn competition, and still can't get a date, by Robert Cringley .Excellent , fun read . Blaine , my impression is that all life on the planet going forward is going to be supremely affected by what goes on in that few square miles . Those chips are the defining development of all time . Jobs , health-care , leisure time , longetivity ......all the forces of creation , production , distribution , and consumption will ultimately be decided by the power embodied within that tiny piece of silicon . The area really doesn't look all that unique as you drive through it , a lot of low slung buildings surrounded by wide avenues and freeways , punctuated here and there by tall glass bank towers , but within those walls is the future of mankind . "Ground Zero". I wouldn't get too worked up about the current disllusionment of Wall Street with semi-conductors . It's a cyclical business .Supply /Demand....very simple . Right now some companies have an overhang of supply . Next year they'll have too much demand . Wall Street in general doesn't know a D-RAM chip from an S-RAM chip from a buffalo chip . Just be patient , it'll all come around .
