Intel sees Q2 sales at lower end of earlier guidance

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NEW YORK, June 7 (Reuters) - Intel Corp.
said on Thursday that sales for the second quarter will be at
the lower end of the range of expectations it set in April, as
the world's largest semiconductor maker contends with a
slowdown in sales of personal computers.
In mid-April, Intel had forecast an unusually wide range
for second-quarter sales of $6.2 billion to $6.8 billion, a
decline of as much as 25 percent from $8.3 billion a year
earlier and a decline from first-quarter levels.
Before the latest update, the 23 analysts surveyed by
Thomson Financial/First Call had expected Intel to post
per-share earnings of 8 cents to 13 cents, with the consensus
at 11 cents. The mean sales forecast, based on nine estimates,
was for $6.29 billion.
