Problems calling Iridium phones (country code 8816): I just received the following note the Iridium regarding the inability to receive calls on my Iridium phone from the Czech Republic where I am located. "Currently the only locations a person can call an Iridium phone are the US (using ATT, MCI Worldcom or Sprint) and parts of Canada. We are aggressively pursuing the opening up of all international access and expect a resolution soon. If you are dealing with a particular phone company please let me know and I can make sure to pass the information about opening the 8816 numbers to them. In the meantime a person is able to reach an Iridium phone number by using our SMS service. How that works is a person goes to our web page and they can type in a message and send that message to you.
