This could be just one of those run ups where speculators pump up
a stock, then short it. The whole sector had a run up, (although
SFAM was clearly the big winner) and companies like SFAM are a
prime target for such speculators having a low float and low average
daily volume.

I'd be careful not to get carried away with takeover rumors. I
recall one of the company officers saying that they were NOT at
all interested in a buyout a year or so back.

But then again, I could be wrong.
