Interesting. First time I've heard that.

It is my understanding that one of the reasons Normandy was chosen was because the Germans would not expect a landing there; they were focussed on the Pas de Calais. The allies knew this because they had cracked the German military radio codes.

Could be. The advantage is with the defenders in the early stages of an amphibious landing. That's why the allies went to such lengths to keep the Germans focussed on Calais.
