Ha! I am definitely not mainstream when it comes to buying clothes... I only own 4 pair of shoes (work/dress, hiking, tennis, and original model topsiders)... I wear shorts most days unless I am going to client office or pitching to prospective client -- one pair black dress slacks (also good for weddings/funerals), 2 pair Ralph Lauren beige twills with "old man" reverse (the only correct way) pleated fronts, one pair RL dad jeans and one pair black levi's (for rockin' when I go to see daughter and friends perform live)... a closet full of Aloha shirts that I'll never wear out... and other misc. stuff I rarely wear... my only real "consumables" being T-shirts and sweat shirts... I am so boring, I find something that I like and just keep buying it when necessary to replace... for example, I only buy shoes about every 2-4 years on ones I wear often (hiking and deck shoes) and since my size never changes, no problem getting from Amazon... ditto shorts, pants and jeans (though I did lose -- and kept off -- 35-40 lb 3 years ago and had to replace some, but had "older" ones still good to go as I'd had to stop wearing them when I gained the weight in the first place), but it's been several years since I bought shirts or pants -- good thing I'd kept all that ancient stuff from my 20s and 30s because I'm wearing them again... I'd imagine it will be another couple years before I have to replace anything I currently wear, except maybe shorts.
