I wasn't making exact parallels between then and now, just trying to point out that there are times when the average P/E has been 6 instead of 60, and dividends were significant, etc. I do believe not too many years prior to this early 70's time period we had low unemployment, low inflation, and all the other points that make life good. We had muscle cars instead of SUVs, though. I have invested right on through all this present craziness, but I must admit I am running out of good ideas unless I dig through the smaller and smaller caps. How does it go from here? Beats me--I just work here.
