I have mentioned this Video on Demand before and find it to be a very
Distinct possibilty.I recently purchased a Satellite system. I have
95 channels counting 31 CD Audio channels. A rival Satellite
company just announced that it had 165 channels. By the end of 1999 I see a Capabilty approaching 500 Channels.I have a Capabilty of
several more channels but they are Pay per View .I read an article
the other day which stated that "Blockbuster" which is now owned by
Viacom is losing Market share. They want $3.45 to rent a Video for
3 days and if it is a New release you pay $3.45 and have to bring it back the next night. You also cant record. On my Satellite I pay
$2.99 and can record it as it is being Broadcasted.

As this Potential increases you will not be talking about the
people today but many people wanting this Video on Demand. Say you
have an offering of a possible 100 pay for view Movies and/or
Special Events at any given time and only 10 million Households have
this Capabilty. This means that at any given time that there could be
the Potential of 1000 million demands for the various combinations
and there has to be some Storage Medium to Handle this Demand. I would
bet on Ampex producing in this area rather then hoping for KM first.
