my welcome to medicare... i read the notice get your first check up physical, within six months x approved tests...

then i got a bill for $390., medicare didn't pay. seems the first test goes towards your annual deductible. i went to socsec.gov and found out, starting in 2009 first test you are given up a year and deductible no longer applied ,,, starting 2009!

under my prior medical i paid $20 per dr visit and all lab testing was free. Medicare is proving to be more expensive for me since the cost of insurance is about the same. All the extended coverage was refused ,deductible hadn't been met.

it seems for the person under medicare who wants to do annual preventive maintenance will be paying for it out of pocket.

this is backward way to prevent high medical expenses. many elderly will not do maintenance checkups and only see a doctor when a crisis pops up.
