British circles: US policy is a failure in Iraq
Iraq-UK, Politics, 1/15/2005

British writer and analyst, John Maples, has warned against further deterioration of the situation in the Middle East unless the US President George W. Bush's administration change its policies in the region.

Maples, a former advocate of the war on Iraq, said in an article published on Friday by the British daily, The Times, now it is clear for everybody including those who supported war on Iraq that the war was a big mistake.

He added that the war on Iraq has led to the complication of the problems in the Middle East.

He said it is hard to believe that London and Washington are involved in extending aid to the Arab states while the memory of the Arab citizen is still vivid with pictures of torture of the Iraqi detainees at Abu-Gharib prison.

He called on the United States to be committed clearly to the establishment of just peace in the Middle East and to put a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq in order to avoid a new Vietnam in Iraq.
